The Vegas Tang Soo Do Karate Club has been in operation in Las Vegas since 1966. Mr. Dick Douglas has been the Chief Instructor at the studio for the entire 30+ years. In that time, Vegas Tang Soo Do has evolved from a small studio which stressed quality to a small studio which stresses quality. Mr. Dick Douglas is an 9th Degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do. Mr. Douglas was personally trained by Chuck Norris and Pat Johnson for over 20 years. He has been teaching martial arts in Las Vegas for over 30 years.
Mr. Douglas was active in the tournament competition during the 1970's. He was the three-time grand champion of the Las Vegas Invitational Karate Championships, and placed in Sam Allred's National Black Belt Championships in 1973. He was also given honorable mention in Professional Karate's regional ratings in 1973.
Mr. Douglas has acted as a tournament announcer for the Henderson Invitational and the Open Pro/Am Karate Championships. He directed the Las Vegas National Karate Championships for fifteeen years, and produced some of the first full-contact events seen on the Las Vegas Strip. In 1983, Mr. Douglas was named Man of the Year.
