Move of the Week for the Week of September 21, 1998

Someone chokes you from behind. Turn your head and try to jam your chin into the crook of your attacker's elbow.
Thrust your hips back and your torso forward, lifting your opponent off the ground. To break your opponent's grip you'll have to take him over the top as opposed to off the side.
Make sure you know how to slap out properly if you're playing the attacker in this scenario. Finish your opponent on the ground.

As with many techniques, surprise is an important factor here. Your opponent could pull you over with him if he doesn't break his grip to break his fall, but it seems that most people would abandon the choke to protect themselves. Decide for yourself. Be careful taking your partner over the top (with or without pads) and any time you're holding someone's neck. Only try this technique if you've been properly trained.
