Move of the Week for the week of September 15, 1997
Stand ready, facing your opponent As your opponent steps in and punches with the right hand, step forward and left with your left leg. Parry his punch with your left hand to his elbow as you strike upward to his groin with your ridge hand.
Step forward with your right leg, push forward on your opponent with your right shoulder and forearm as you pull his left calf forward. Continue to drive forward for the takedown. See if you can knock your opponent clear out of the frame.
Keep your left arm tightly around your opponent's calf to maintain control as you chop once or twice to your opponent's groin. Swing your right leg forward and fall back. As you fall back, bring your heel down on your opponent's right thigh. Keep that leg locked up tight.
With the leg locked up tight (your right shoulder over the foot, and your left forarm coming straight accross the right calf), lean back and raise your hips to cause pain in his calf. It helps to keep your legs locked over his right leg. Throw his leg away and roll out to safety.

This technique combines a quick and dirty takedown with a submission finish. Practice both, but make sure you can inflict the correct level on your partner.
