Move of the Week for the week of June 16, 1997

Stand ready for your opponent's attack with your left leg slightly forward. As your opponent steps in and punches with the right hand, lunge back (if necessary) and deflect is punch with your left hand.
Hold your opponent's right arm out of the way as you throw a right leg round kick to the head. Recoil the kick and bring your right leg behind your opponent (pivoting counter-clockwise).
Jump off your left leg, swinging your left leg across your opponent's chest, and your right leg forward through his knees for the scissors takedown. Slap out. You can finish by raising your left leg and dropping your heel someplace sensitive before rolling out.

Exercise caution when practicing and performing this takedown. Start out trying it slowly, with the person executing the takedown placing a hand on the ground for balance. Perform it only on advanced practitioners. If you do the takedown hard and fast, the person going down needs to be very fast and hard slapping out or they'll hit their head very hard. If you're punching, keep your arms above your opponent's leg, so you can slap out. If your arms get trapped so you can't slap, you'll probably be sleeping soon. Have fun.
